This webinar will focus on strategies to get students engaged and loving Geography. Whether you’re teaching Geography for the first time, out-of-field, or looking for new ideas to connect your students to the world around them, you’ll leave with practical ideas for teaching Geography.
Using the topic of ‘Place and liveability’ (Australian Curriculum Year 7), Gareth will model lessons that make Geography relevant, current and interesting to junior secondary students. You’ll explore strategies to build students’ geographical literacy, and walk away with a lesson sequence and resources you can use with your students.

About Gareth
Gareth is a highly qualified and experienced educator, originally from the UK and residing in Australia since 2013. Gareth has a Master of Teaching from the University of Melbourne, a Bachelor’s in Geography, and is currently completing an Honours degree on the impact of national scale population decline on suburban spaces.
Gareth taught Humanities for a number of years, and has also worked with the VCAA on Humanities curriculum-related resources. He has also lectured at The University of Melbourne on innovative teaching methods for the next generation of Humanities teachers. Gareth is a part of the Edrolo Humanities team, creating resources for Geography and History, with a particular focus on incorporating the powerful concept of place in Geography lessons.
Every student brings to Science class a unique combination of comprehension and language skills and strategies. This is what allows them to access and communicate their learning. This is Literacy in Science. Without a strong foundation of literacy in Science, a student will find it difficult to develop their Scientific literacy – understanding of the terms, processes, and concepts of Science.
In this webinar you’ll be guided through a series of simple strategies to build students’ literacy in Science, and thus set them up for success. Felicity will share tried and tested literacy-based activities that can be adapted across topics, embedded within lessons, and cater for all students.

About Felicity
Felicity is an experienced educator, working across the primary, secondary, and tertiary levels in a range of Victorian schools for 14+ years. Most of her teaching experience is secondary, where she taught English and Science for 9 years.
Felicity holds a Bachelor of Arts, Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary), and a Masters of Education (Adult Learning) from Monash University. She is currently supporting the next generation of educators by teaching in the Monash Faculty of Education with a focus on inclusion and diversity. Felicity is a member of the Edrolo junior Science content team, and has a specific interest in using literacy to develop resources accessible to all students.
This webinar aims to equip Maths teachers with the skills and knowledge to effectively use non-examples as a teaching strategy in their classrooms. Non-examples are examples of what something is not, and they are an effective tool for developing a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts.
During the session, Kathy will explore the benefits of using non-examples, look at different types of non-examples (including misconceptions), and examine how to integrate them into lessons to help students understand and apply mathematical concepts.

About Kathy
Kathy Lin is a former school teacher from the United States. She has 12 years of teaching experience, teaching at the International School of Beijing and the Shanghai American School. Kathy holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Duke University, a graduate certificate in Elementary Teaching from Drexel University, and a Maths Specialist in International Schools (MSIS) credential.
Kathy is currently heading junior Mathematics content development at Edrolo and is the lead author of the Year 7 and 8 Edrolo Maths resources. Kathy lives in Melbourne with her family including her fur baby Barkley.
