Student Name: Irha
State: Queensland
Year 12 Subjects: Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics
Post-high school Goal: To study Engineering at Queensland University of Technology (QUT).
Snapshot
Irha completed Year 12 in 2024, studying a STEM-focused set of subjects including Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics. Despite struggling with chemistry in Year 11, she used Edrolo to fill gaps early in the year, strengthen her understanding, and significantly improve her results, ultimately earning an offer from QUT for Engineering.
What Irha achieved with Edrolo
- Improved Chemistry Results: Edrolo significantly improved her understanding and performance in Chemistry, a subject she had struggled with in Year 11.
- Enhanced Subject Understanding: Irha consolidated knowledge across multiple subjects (Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Mathematics), ensuring a stronger grasp of key concepts.
- Higher Exam Performance: Successfully applied Edrolo lessons to boost exam results, particularly in Chemistry, by reinforcing concepts and clarifying difficult topics.
- Increased Confidence: Gained confidence in her abilities, knowing she could independently review and master content using Edrolo's resources.
- University Offer: Edrolo contributed to achieving the necessary results for securing an Engineering offer from Queensland University of Technology (QUT).
"At the start of Year 12, I was really struggling with Chemistry, but Edrolo made things so much clearer. I could go back and replay lessons whenever I needed to, which helped me catch up and understand concepts I missed in class. It made a huge difference."
The challenges for Irha
- Time Management: Balancing study time across multiple subjects and prioritizing which topics to focus on.
- Concept gaps: Gaps in understanding of key concepts from Year 11 made it hard to keep up during class in Year 12.
- Study Routine: Establishing an effective study routine that worked for all subjects, especially with the pressure of external exams.
"The hardest part for me was figuring out how to prioritize my study time. There were so many subjects and topics to juggle, and it was tough to know where to focus my attention, especially when exams were approaching."
How Edrolo helped Irha
Irha used Edrolo to get up to speed on key topics leading into and throughout Year 12.
- Accessible learning: Edrolo provided 24/7 access to video lessons, allowing Irha to review content outside of class whenever needed.
- Clear explanations: The engaging presentation style of the Edrolo lessons helped simplify complex topics, especially in Chemistry, making them easier to understand.
- Repetition for mastery: Irha was able to replay lessons multiple times to ensure she fully understood the concepts, especially when she missed something in class.
- Interactive learning: After each lesson, Edrolo provided multiple-choice questions to test understanding, with detailed explanations that helped reinforce key concepts.
- Confidence boost: The ability to review and rewatch lessons at her own pace reduced stress and built confidence, particularly when preparing for exams.
- Support for missed lessons: Whenever class content was missed or not fully understood, Edrolo offered an opportunity to catch up and fill in gaps in learning.
"What I loved most about Edrolo was that after every lesson, there were practice questions. I could instantly test myself and see if I understood the concept. If I didn’t get it right, the explanation helped me understand why, which was really useful."
Irha’s advice for Year 12 students
- Figure out what works best for you when it comes to studying. Find your best study routine and stick to it. It can be hard at first, but once you figure out how you study best—whether it’s watching videos, taking notes, or doing practice questions—it gets much easier.
- Make use of all the resources you can. Edrolo really helped me, especially for Chemistry, and you can always go back to lessons whenever you need to."
"It’s so important to find your study rhythm. For me, rewatching lessons after class with Edrolo was a game-changer. You’ll feel more confident if you know that you can always go back and fill in any gaps in your understanding."
What’s next?
Irha has accepted an offer to study Engineering at Queensland University of Technology. She’s excited to begin their next academic chapter and apply the study techniques they developed during Year 12, including the time-management and self-study skills she honed with the help of Edrolo.
"Looking back, I’m really grateful for the extra support that Edrolo gave me. It helped me not only in Chemistry but also in understanding how to study more effectively. It really made a difference."
Irha also learned how to study independently and is eager to use those skills as she transitions into university life, which will be both exciting and challenging.
